STEM Outreach

Receiving the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship provides secure funding needed to freely conduct research of my own interest and permits me time to engage in scientific service. Current efforts include designing outreach seminars at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute highlighting various academic resources available for undergraduates from underrepresented minorities majoring in STEM programs.

Recently I created a short workshop tailored for undergraduates in the geosciences emphasizing the multitude of internships and REUs available. Later I would like to reach out to the local high schools to inspire students from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds to look into careers of STEM majors. This is a venture I would like to continue and broaden throughout my academic and professional career. Science plays a significant part in my life, and I want to share my experiences and encourage others so they might understand how science can lead captivating careers and that these are possible with diligence and hard work.
